FASEB Submits Comments to NSF SAIF PI Survey Information Collection Request

On December 7, FASEB submitted comments to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in response to its Information Collection Request regarding the agency’s plan to conduct surveys and interviews with principal investigators (PIs) who have submitted proposals to solicitations participating in the Safe and Inclusive Fieldwork (SAIF) pilot program.

FASEB’s comments express support for this new data collection initiative to ensure all research environments are safe and free of hostile behavior but recommend that the NSF consider a few additional factors for a comprehensive evaluation of the SAIF pilot program. For example, FASEB suggests conducting surveys and interviews anonymously and incorporating all trainees on the grant, including students and postdocs, alongside PIs for feedback.
