FASEB Responds to NIH Recommendations for Improving NRSA Fellowship Review

On June 2, FASEB submitted its response to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) request for information on recommendations for improving the peer review of Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) fellowship applications. FASEB was largely supportive of the proposed changes that aim to focus assessment on the potential of the applicant, strength of the science, and the quality of the training plan. We appreciate these efforts to reduce bias in the review process that appropriately centers the trainee, individualized training plan, and science over the university's and sponsor's reputation.
