On April 13, the National Science Foundation (NSF) issued a call for public comments on proposed updates to the NSF Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG). Updates to the PAPPG are part of NSF’s continuing commitment to monitor operations and streamline reporting burdens for those applying for and receiving grants or contracts through the agency.

To facilitate stakeholder review, NSF has highlighted revised text and provided contextual comments in the margins. The majority of the changes are intended to align with current NSF and government-wide practices, including requiring the use of SciENcv to create personnel biosketches, expanded disclosure requirements consistent with implementation of the National Security Presidential Memorandum 33, and clarification of timelines for awardee reporting, among others.

NSF is accepting comments on the proposed updates through June 13. Once finalized, the anticipated effective date for the updated PAPPG is January 2023.
