NIH Issues Updated Strategic Plan for Data Science
By: Yvette SegerThursday, February 13, 2025
Last month, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) released its 2025 – 2030 Strategic Plan for Data Science. The updated plan builds upon the agency’s inaugural plan, shifting from tactics to assist the research community in preparing for the implementation of more rigorous expectations for data management and sharing to leveraging data science to accelerate our understanding of human health. Similarly, the five goals of the updated strategic plan reflect this transition and highlight the need to develop a research workforce that is ready to harness the potential of data science to further our understanding of human health.
FASEB provided comments on the draft plan in March 2024 and was pleased to see much of that feedback incorporated into the final plan.
