Nominations for the 2022 FASEB Excellence in Science Awards opened on March 1, 2021. For more than 30 years, these awards have highlighted outstanding achievements by women in biological science throughout their careers.

To recognize the contributions of women scientists across career stages, the Excellence in Science program was expanded to include awards recognizing contributions of early- and mid-career researchers, as well as lifetime achievement beginning in 2020. An overview of the three awards, including eligibility and nomination criteria, can be found here.

In addition to unrestricted cash prizes — $10,000 for Lifetime Achievement and $5,000 each for the Early- Career and Mid-Career awards — awardees present a special Excellence in Science Award lecture at the annual meeting of a FASEB member society of the awardee’s choice. Awardees are also reimbursed for registration, travel, and up to two nights hotel associated with the presentation of the award lecture.

As previously indicated, individuals nominated during the 2021 cycle not selected for their respective award will automatically be renominated for the 2022 cycle as eligible. However, nominators may also choose to forgo this option and submit an updated nomination package. Nomination materials must be submitted by June 3, 2021, via the appropriate form on this website.
