FASEB Tool Highlights Society Resources for Early-Career Researchers

FASEB recently launched a new tool to help scientists easily locate resources offered by its 29 scientific member societies. With this tool graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and early-career faculty can quickly identify opportunities to support their professional development and research.

Navigating through the tool is as simple as a click of a button. The landing page features four broad categories: “Awards and Fellowships,” “Professional Development,” “Mentoring and Networking,” and “Select Membership Benefits.” Clicking on one of these four categories will redirect the user to a list of subcategories.

 

 

For example, perhaps you are a trainee interested in learning more about the benefits available as part of society membership. Clicking “Select Membership Benefits” will redirect you to a page listing the following subcategories:



 

If exploring the cost of membership as a trainee, click “Trainee and Early Career Membership.” Choose the society you already belong to or explore all the societies to help gauge your interest in joining a society based on the resources offered. Unsure about what the different acronyms mean? The “Society Directory” provides a quick reference for society names and websites.



 

After clicking a society button, the tool will redirect you to the relevant links for the topic of interest. Click the links to open a new tab and explore the offering. For example, here is what the American Physiological Society offers trainees:

 

 

Use the buttons at the bottom of the page to navigate back to the list of societies in the subcategory or back to the main categories.
