FASEB Comments on CSR Fellowship Review Working Group Recommendations

On November 2, FASEB submitted comments to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center for Scientific Review (CSR) Advisory Council in response to the final recommendations presented by the Fellowship Review Working Group in September. FASEB commended the working group for their efforts to broaden the background of awardees under NIH fellowship awards. Comments supported the clarified revisions to the review process that deemphasize the prestige of the institution and sponsor and instead shift focus to the scientific potential of the applicant. We also offered considerations for changes to the application process to ensure fairness and awareness of the revisions to stakeholders. FASEB looks forward to additional details as these recommendations are implemented.
