Annual Federal Funding Recommendations
Biomedical and Related Life Sciences Research, FY 2022
Federal investments in investigator-initiated research have enabled remarkable progress in the biological and biomedical sciences. Robust, predictable, and sustained budget increases for science agencies, across a range of fields, are the only way to ensure continuing advances in healthcare, new treatments for life-threatening diseases, and enhanced quality of life.
These are FASEB’s fiscal year (FY) 2022 funding recommendations for these federal agencies:
- At least $46.11 billion for National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- At least $10 billion for National Science Foundation (NSF)
- At least $902 million for Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical and Prosthetic Research Program
- At least $700 million for United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI)
- At least $7.7 billion for the Department of Energy Office of Science (DOE SC)
