NIH Announces Parent F99/K00 Funding Opportunity
NIH has released a new parent funding opportunity announcement (PA-27-037) for the Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition (F99/K00) Award, which supports promising PhD students as they transition to postdoctoral training and pursue research independence. The first application due date is August 8, 2026.
NIH to Host Webinar on Unified Funding Strategy
NIH will host "Understanding NIH's Unified Funding Strategy: What the Research Community Needs to Know" on August 14 from 10–11 am ET. NIH leadership will discuss how the agency's Unified Funding Strategy informs funding decisions across Institutes and Centers, explain its implementation, and answer questions from the research community. The webinar is open to researchers, institutional officials, peer reviewers, professional societies, and the public.
NIH Highlights Updates to F, K, and T Application Review
NIH has published guidance on recent changes to the referral and peer review of fellowship (F), career development (K), and institutional training (T) applications following the centralization of peer review within the Center for Scientific Review (CSR). The updates include new recurring review panels for training-related applications, revised fellowship review criteria that emphasize applicant potential and the training environment, and changes to T32 mentor training expectations and trainee data tables aimed at reducing administrative burden and better reflecting trainee outcomes and diverse career pathways.
