To prepare research teams for the adoption of new Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support as part of the implementation of the revised Proposal and Award Policy & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) for applications submitted on or after May 20, 2024, the National Science Foundation (NSF) hosted a webinar highlighting the rationale and development of the Common Forms, key changes from current forms, and generation of forms using the Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae or SciENcv.

Development of the Common Forms was spearheaded by a National Science and Technology Committee working group co-chaired by representatives from NSF and the National Institutes of Health to harmonize content requirements across federal research funding agencies while fulfilling disclosure requirements of Section 223 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 and incorporating feedback from the research community. A key change with the Biographical Sketch is the investigator’s attestation that they are not a party to a Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Program, while updates to the Current and Pending (Other) Support form include revised and clarified definitions for in-kind contributions and consulting activities.

The webinar also provided a brief tutorial of SciENcv and the timeline for updating information within Research.gov to ensure availability of appropriate forms when the updated version of the PAPPG (24-1) goes into effect.
