FASEB Highlights Opportunities to Increase Diversity on Key Federal Advisory Committees

November 14, 2018

In a November 13 letter to Francis Collins, MD, PhD, Director of the National Institutes of Health, FASEB raised concerns about the lack of diversity on key federal advisory committees and councils. Membership of NIH's Advisory Committee to the Director (ACD) - a committee frequently tapped by Dr. Collins to provide advice on a range of topics affecting the biomedical research community - was highlighted as an example in which agency leadership could make great strides to improve representation. In addition to Dr. Collins, the letter was sent to other leaders within NIH and the Biological Sciences Directorate at the National Science Foundation.
