FASEB announced that Frank J. Krause, Jr., CAE, has been named Executive Director effective no later than July 24. “This is an exciting time for the Federation and we are absolutely delighted that Frank will be joining FASEB. His expertise in professional society and association operations and deep ties to the scientific community will be a tremendous asset to our leadership and member societies,” said FASEB President Hudson H. Freeze, PhD.
Krause is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the American Geophysical Union, a position he has held for the last 6 years. At AGU, he was responsible for partnering with AGU’s CEO, volunteer leaders and senior staff to develop and execute AGU’s strategies, and he directly oversaw AGU’s publications, meetings and talent pool programs, financial operations, and the technology and project management office.
“During Frank’s tenure as COO, we have achieved a great deal. AGU has a highly respected, ground-breaking and profitable publications portfolio, a compelling and increasingly innovative meetings program, a solid financial foundation, and is acknowledged as a leader among associations. Much of the credit for this accrues to Frank, and we thank him for that and wish him and FASEB the best,” said Chris McEntee, CEO and Executive Director of AGU.
Thomas O. Baldwin, PhD, FASEB President-Elect and Chairman of the Executive Director Search Committee said, “Frank was the unanimous choice to lead the implementation of the FASEB’s vision for the future. We are looking forward to working with Frank as we move forward with providing maximum value to our members as well as the broader community of researchers in the biological and biomedical sciences.”
The selection of Mr. Krause follows a nationwide search led by Transition Management Consulting, Inc. and an internal committee consisting of FASEB Board members and member society Executive Officers. “Frank brings to FASEB tremendous experience and knowledge and is respected throughout the industry for his honesty, integrity, and accomplishments. He truly shares our vision, passion, and above all, our commitment to FASEB’s mission. I look forward to working with him,” commented Barbara A. Gordon, Executive Director of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a member of the Search Committee. Added Shawn Boynes, FASAE, CAE, Executive Director of the American Association of Anatomists, “I’m excited to welcome Frank to the FASEB community. Frank’s impressive association management background and broad leadership experience will not only elevate the organization but will help shepherd FASEB through its next life cycle during this critical time.”
