Interagency group should improve progress report, FASEB says

September 21, 2015
In a September 1 letter , the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) commented on a proposal by the National Science and Technology Council Research Business Models Interagency Working Group to revise methods for collecting grant progress reports. The changes to the Research Performance Progress Report used across federal agencies are expected to streamline reporting and reduce administrative burden. Despite the improvements, the changes do not make it easier to report research outcomes. FASEB recommended inclusion of a tool for awardees to customize the form to address specific reporting requirements at each participating agency. In addition, FASEB urged the working group to allow researchers from a variety of fields to test the revised form to ensure that it suits their needs.
