Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I or anyone in my group have to be a scientist to enter?
A: No. Federally funded, biological research benefits all Americans, so we encourage any interested individual or group to participate.
Q: Who can participate?
A: The contest is open to individual entrants residing in the U.S. who are at least 13 years of age at the time of entry. Individuals under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian submit the entry on their behalf; please find the parental consent form here.
Employees of FASEB and its constituent societies, FASEB Board members, and members of their immediate family may not enter. Please see official Terms and Conditions for more information.
Q: Can my video feature a different federal agency that supports science? Does it have to be about biological sciences?
A: Your video must focus on at least one of the listed federal agencies or programs and its role in supporting biological research. While other scientific fields and the agencies that support them are important, they are not a focus of this competition.
Q: How will the winner be chosen?
A: Entries will be evaluated in accordance with our Judging Guidelines and Rubric.
Q: Do I have to address more than three of the questions in my video?
A: No, you do not. However, the judges will take into account how many questions you addressed when scoring your entry.
Q: Who can I contact if I have additional questions?
A: Please direct all questions to contest@faseb.org
